She is Kathleen Marion Hamilton, not Katherine. Her parents are Kenneth Michael Hamilton, born 24 Sep 1914, Devonport, Tasmania, died 2 Jun 1976, Wollongong, NSW (while on holiday). Kenneth married Mavis Amelia Marshall, born 8 Jan 1917, Ulverstone, Tasmania, died 2 March 1976, 1976, Burnie General Hospital, Tasmania. I have a lot more info if you would like it. It has been a nice day today so i had a walk up to the cemetery, it is a lovely place nice and clean and tidy and a nice view over the fells. This is the information from the Stamper grave which is in the old part of the cemetery. * Jane Stamper wife of John Stamper Died 12 September 1876 age 66 yrs * John Stamper husband of the above Died 27 October 1887 age 75 yrs * Mary Stamper wife of Thomas Stamper Died 2 JUly 1880 age 34 yrs * Thomas Stamper husband of the above Died feb 1904 age 62 yrs (part of the date has worn away) * Also Thomas son of Thomas and Mary Stamper Died 3 August 1902 age 28 * Elizabeth Stamper 2nd wife of Thomas Stamper Died 2 june 1937 age 81 I would be very grateful for any photo copies of certificates, also if you have any old photos of the Stamper family and vice versa. I have been doing my family tree for about 6yrs. I went to a night class which lasted about 12 weeks last october i found it very helpful. I have just about finished my dads side which he knew nothing about, it has cost me a fortune but i enjoy doing it, my children think i am very sad. So now i have started my mums side which most of them have come from Penrith. I sent away for Ann Stampers birth Certificate they could not find it, unknown to me she was a Dand. I found this out when i got the internet. My conclusion is that Mary and Elizabeth are sisters. When Mary died Eliabeth came to live with her brother in law Thomas. I dont think that Thomas is Anns Father. I am sure that Thomas brought up Ann when they got married as his own daughter. I will send for Marys death certificate as this will show her maiden name. I am going to Carlisle in half term as i work at school, I will try and find the date of Mary and Thomas marriage. Im looking forward to hearing from you. Pauline Bird

- Actual Text: Hi Paul, thanks for getting back, afraid not a computer wiz , so not sure how to use gedcom, funnily enough I have spoken with Rene Roberts about 5 years ago, not sure if she is still alive, although she was well up on the Tasmanian connection could not help much with Cumbrian, brief summary of Margaret Nicholson she was born 20th april1849, the daughter of John Lunson and Mary Nicholson in Penrith and she had following brothers and sisters John b 1838 believed to have died very young Anthony Robert Thomas Mary Ann Mary Jane John Lunson Margaret married Corporal John James Collins at Cheriton in Kent in 1878 on 5th september, he being a soldier in the 45th rgmnt and their Barracks were there, he had been serving in India and their daughter Florence Eurphrates Collins was in all likelyhood named [a la beckham] after the placed she was conceived, there was a troopship plying between India and England of that name, but there is no record of her being born aboard the ship, she was in fact born before they were legally married, although states on her certificate that they are married. However they go on to have further children Mary Lunson Collins { my great gran } Richard, Thomas, and Margaret. Mary Lunson Collins born in Workinton on 20th July 1882. Mary Lunson Collins marries James Daniel Day in Hampstead in 1900 after giving birth earlier to Isabella in 1899 {my gran} Isabella and James stayed in the Hampstead area [ the poor part } Isabella married William Harry Wheeler in 1918 and lived in Fleet Road [ where my mother was born in 1918] before moving down to first Kentish Town and later Chalk Farm. Isabella was apparently quite a gal, being master of the household and an accomplished party giver, but alas she died during the war aged 44, but not before she had another 8 children after my mothers birth, my mother died 8 years ago, she had married my father Daniel O'Donnell in 1947. There are loads of loose ends to tie up where did Margaret meet Corporal Collins, they went back to Workington after he left the army, who did they know there ?. Going back to the beginning still try to trace Mary Nicholsons mother, John Lunsons father was I belive also John and he married an Elizabeth Graham, John being born in Kirland near Penrith in 1792. to summerise John Lunson marries Mary Nicholson 1838 daughter Margaret Nicholson Lunson born 1849 married to John James Collins in 1878 daughter Mary Lunson Collins born 1882 workington married James Day daughter Isabella born Hampstead 1899 Marries William Wheeler daughter Margaret born 1918 married Daniel O'Donnell 1947 Terence [me] born 1948. Harry was Henry Burns HUNTER,mother was Ada,father Thomas.Thanks for that I had only entered up what one of his cousins had given me...never bothered to search cwgc site.If Irma is correct that he died 2 days before his 21st that makes his birth date 6 Feb 1921...I will ring her later to see if she remembers when he was born.She is elderly now.Your 1st email message:1.yes Jas. is an abbreviation for James...often used in P.R'sI did not have their 1881 census entry2. nor the 1881 census for Sewell family3.Sorry that I put an H in Thomas Jackson Sewell's entry....not meant to be there nor in James watson Sewell's.The dates I gave you for the Sewells were birthdates I imagine,as given me by a descendant4. John Sewell evidently died between 1871 and 1881.5. Ann (LOY) ,marr to John hunter is a puzzle, John Hunter is not on the IGI.,but I was able to give a descendant his birthdate thanks to my gt grandfather's notebook in which he had entered all his siblings birthdays,deaths in many cases and other interesting facts about his English family.It has been great having it as he also had listed many names and addresses which has enabled me to match up other lines.Back to Ann (LOY),according to her gravestone at Kirkby Thore she died in 1903 aged 76 yrs. which gives her birthdate as about 1827.Census state that she was born in Temple Sowerby,WES although the ages given on these make her to be born abt 1832.Marr. entry states her father to be Thomas Loy,at that time Ann & no doubt Thomas were of Skelton but she was marr. at Penrith on 31.1.1857, again a discrepancy as her age was given as 25yrs,his 21.There was an Ann Loy born to Thomas Loy & Elizabeth in 1826,chr on 28.5.1826 at Temple Sowerby.Robin Woodward (male) a descendant of hers who lives in UK feels this is the correct one as no doubt she acknowledged her correct age by the time she was ageing and near death...9 years difference between her and John might have been too,too much to acknowledge in their younger years.The only other thing that I can think is that this Ann died ,there was another later Ann to the same parents in the same place but not for what ever reason entered in P.R. or IGI and the date on the gravestone ,which may have been indistinct was 1908 not 1903.If this is so it all fits in with marriage entry and census ages!!6. Thomas Hunter...I have chr date of 19.11.1858 in computer...he could be the farm servt...we have the K.TH.P.R at my local library so will check it when I next go there7. No I don't have any more information on grand-dau Annie marr to Wm Stamper..all the note said was that a gr-dau annie stamper....Next message...2.Annie Elizt Hunter chr on 27.9 1863, born in August 18633. Sarah Hunter (18.21829/10.3.1829) marr a Robt SAYER who was born about 1828 of Kirkby Stephen,WES,father George,both blacksmiths(marr entry)This Joseph in 1881 census aged 54 would have been b. abt 1827On IGI chn to Geo Sayer & Jane of Kirkby Stephen,WES were Joseph ,chr 19.5.1815John 28.7.1820Wm 7.1.1824 and Robert 25.3.1827...this most likely is the husband of Sarah Hunter.I picked up on IGI a Mary Ann Hunter,chr 17.11.1861,K-Th ,parents Thomas & IsabellaMary Hunter,8.2.1861,K-Stephen,p's Robert & RachelAgnes chr 6.11.1864, Orton,p's Robt & Rachelno Jane or Jane Ellen abt 1867Of course the three girls may have been cousins not sisters.I have not the 1881 census for Thomas & Isabella so can not say if she is with them or not ...so possibly Mary is their dau.The 1871 census does not show Mary nor the next older dau Elizabeth!! 4.Isabella Braithwaite died 26.12.1913...don't know why I hit 1944!!(son's death year)5. I have on computer 1868...will check the P.R.His death date was 3 July 1944,in his 77th year.6. - Actual Text: Hi Paul Fascinating stuff. My Aunt who is now Julie Shorland did some investigation but got nowhere near 1600! I am not the Richard Lunson you think I am! I am the son of Andrew Lunson and Valerie Lunson (Shale) married on 28/8/70 (i think!) My grandfather was Frederick John Lunson who died in 1984 as stated on the site - buried in Shirehampton, Bristol. I was born 9/8/71. My brother Stu was born 2/2/73 and sister Rebecca born 6/9/76. We are all married and have 2 daughters each! I married Kathryn Walker on 20/10/00. Emily Rose Lunson was born on 30/9/02 and Isabel Grace was born not long ago on 1/8/04. - Actual Text: This is the last will and testament of me Marjery Peddie Archer of Landfall East Tamar in Tasmania, Widow. I give my piano and my watches jewellery trinkets and articles of personal decoration or ornament to my daughter Elsie Marjery Heyward. I give my picture of my late husband to my son Frank Archer. I give my organ my phaeton my butter worker and also my grey mare "Minnie" to my son Hedley Basil Archer and I give my plate linen china glass books pictures (except the said picture of my late husband) prints furniture (except the said piano and organ) and other household effects to Percival Beaumont Grubb of Bengeo Lemana Junction Farmer and my sons Gerald Edward Archer and Charles Cuthbert Archer or the survivors or survivor of them absolutely and I hereby request them or him but without imposing any liability on them or him so to do to hand to such of my children such of said household effects as I shall direct in writing (whether by letter or by leaving a list signed by me or by writing the name of a child on or attaching the name of a child to any such household effects) and to give to my son Hedley Basil Archer the option of purchasing the balance of such household effects at the price of one hundred and fifty pounds and to divide the one hundred and fifty pounds purchase money or (if the said Hedley Basil Archer does not purchase) the balance of such household effects amongst such of the following five of my sons namely Frank Archer, Gerald Archer, Edward Archer, Rowland Hill Archer, Vivian Godfrey Archer and Evelyn Stanley Archer as shall survive me as the said Percival Beaumont Grubb Gerald Edward Archer and Charles Cuthbert Archer or the survivors or survivor of them shall think fit. I give the sum of fifty pounds to Alfred Harrison Cullen who was in my employ for twenty six years. I give the sum of Fifty pounds to Bertha Hills who was in my employ for twenty six years - and I direct that the above gifts shall be free of probate and other duties payable in respect of the same. I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate not hereinbefore otherwise disposed of unto the said Percival Beaumont Grubb, Gerald Edward Archer and Charles Cuthbert Archer upon trust that the said Percival Beaumont Grubb, Gerald Edward Archer and Charles Cuthbert Archer or the survivors or survivor of them or other the Trustees or Trustee for the time being of this myWill (hereinafter referred to as "my Trustees or Trustee") shall set apart the sum of one hundred pounds andinvest the same in the name or names of my Trustees or Trustee and shall stand possessed of the same upon trust to pay and apply the income thereof to or for the benefit of the Newnham Methodist Church and subject thereto shall stand seised and possessed of the said real and personal estate upon trust for my sons Gerald Edward Archer and Hedley Basil Archer in equal shares as tenants in common subject to and charged with the payment of the following sums within two years from the date of my death together with interest at six pounds per centum per annum from six months after my death - and the date of payment is to say:- The sum of Fourteen hundred pounds to my said son Frank Archer; the sum of thirteen hundred pounds to my said son Charles Cuthbert Archer; the sum of fourteen hundred pounds to my said son Vivian Godfrey Archer; the sum of Thirteen hundred pounds to my said son Evelyn Stanley Archer; the sum of Eleven hundred and fifty pounds to my said daughter Elsie Marjery Heyward. The sum of Five hundred pounds to my said son Gerald Edward Archer AND ALSO charged with the payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses including all probate and other duties payable in respect of my estate and every part thereof except the above sums of £1400 £1450 £1300 £1400 £1300 and £1150 which shall bear the duty thereon provided always that is any child of me shall die in my lifetime leaving a child or children who shall be living at my decease and shall have then attained or shall afterwards attain the age of twenty one years and in every such case the last mentioned child or children shall take and if more than one equally between them the benefit which his her or their parent would have taken under this my Will if such parent had survived me. I appoint the said Percival Beaumont Grubb, Gerald Edward Archer and Charles Cuthbert Archer Executors of this my will and I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament set my hand this twenty eighth day of May one thousand nine hundred and twenty four.Marjery P Archer.Note: Codicil added where Marjery redirected the benefit for the Newnham Methodist Church to the Sunday School.
